Multi-page eCommerce website with customised Ostendo ERP integration
As a high-end leading wholesale and trade supplier of designer furniture, lighting, home decor and textiles to the interior design, architecture and property development industries, Boyd Blue’s website needed to match the high expectations of their target market.
To ensure they stood out from their competitors as the leader in their field, our challenging brief was clean, modern and always on-trend!
But the most crucial component for the client, given freight calculations and display of real-time stock levels being critical to their success as an online retailer, was integration with Ostendo to provide a complete Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution.
One unique aspect to the Boyd Blue project was that we needed to take into account stock at several different major warehouses around Australia, have the ability for those to be seamlessly ordered by one customer and calculate the freight to that customer. Other Ostendo integrators could not provide a viable solution to work with the client’s freight company, given some of the logistics were discounted or provided free to the customer based on a complex set of rules, but Kook found a way.
Achieving an effective freight costing and inventory control solution for the client relied upon Kook’s ability to custom-build aspects of the code that were not available within Ostendo.
Building the website using Kook’s .NET CMS platform, extra user interface (UI) design consideration was needed due to the menu and product content being driven by Ostendo – not knowing how many categories would be in the menu, or how much content would be on a particular page, meant that the design needed to be accommodating to present an unknown amount of data while ensuring it remained user-friendly and eye-catching on any device.
We used the Hierarchies module in Ostendo to drive the website category structure. This enabled Boyd Blue to keep its existing category structure within Ostendo but show it differently online to ensure enhanced user experience (UX) for customers, with products grouped into collections so that related products could be easily browsed.
The mobile responsive website meets Boyd Blue’s requirements on the frontend and backend, with a beautiful, contemporary look in keeping with their range of products combining with simple in-house site administration utilising our proprietary CMS and full Ostendo integration.
The very nature of the client’s industry means that buyers are highly trend sensitive, so the website look and feel needs to be able to match the latest styles effortlessly. This has been achieved by utilising an overall neutral palate, while enabling the large hero section on the home page to be easily updated by the website admin to set the season’s tone.
Featured images on the home page are also easily swapped out with products that are on-trend.
